Our Top 5 Spring/Summer 2018 Trends

The dark nights are starting to get lighter earlier, temperatures are rising and we can almost smell the suncream scent in the air. That’s right, winter is almost over. In preparation, we’ve highlighted our Top 5 Interior Trends for Spring/Summer 2018.

  1. Ice Cream Colours

Think Neopolitan, Strawberries and Cream, or Mint Choc Chip… ice cream pastels are going to be a huge trend in both interiors and fashion in SS18.

Kasia Wiktorowicz, marketing communications manager, Valspar explains, ‘Choosing your favourite flavour of ice cream can be a bit like choosing your favourite paint colour. So why only choose one when you can have them all, in a perfect palette of ice cream colours. You can even mix up paint colours to suit your tastes and match accessories by using our in-store colour matching technology.’

These tones can be used as a feature wall, or brighten up a whole room with multiple colours, and accessorise with sickly-sweet coloured lamps, vases, dining chairs.

2. Foliage and More Foliage

With increasing news of health benefits, the humble houseplant is fast becoming the must-have buy for our homes. And it seems the more the merrier, so pop down to your local garden centre and invest in some stunning plants. Place them in each room, use hanging plants for shelves and mantelpieces and some lovely leafy beauties for bare corners and coffee/side tables. Team them with some lush green pieces such as charming armchair, stylish pendants, a textured rug and some stripy green cushions for added interest.

3. Pared back Industrial Chic

With distinguishable features such as exposed brick, distressed finishes and polished concrete, the industrial trend is set to be as popular as ever. The new year will see a fresh twist on the aesthetic at Next Home where simple crockery sets and minimalist statement lighting reign supreme.

4. Style It Dark

Sophisticated and atmospheric, dark paint colours are here to stay for SS18 with shades ranging from sumptuous dark blue and charcoal grey to rich jewel tones. Swoon Editions have gone one step further, pairing moody navy walls with the range of plush velvet upholstered sofas, gold accents and marble.

5. Monochromatic Colour

Another way to design with interior design trends 2018  in mind is with the use of Monochromatic Colour. Simply fill spaces with your chosen Pantone. This theme can be changed slightly throughout rooms, perhaps with a blue dining space and green or white bathroom spaces. Plastic, chrome and glass furniture work beautifully with these SS18 themes.
